Water restriction is in effect!
April 2025 Updates:
The rehab attempts on well #2 did not yield the results that CTW & PVWT were looking for. The next step is to drill well #2 an additional 100-200 ft to get the increased volume needed for well #2 to be prepared for increased usage going forward. This project is anticipated to take 2-3 months to complete.
In March, we had our first large leak repair of 2025, which was in the Broadlands neighborhood. As a result of the repair work, we have already seen a large decrease in water usage.
In March, the WI Dept of Natural Resources completed its 2025 Sanitary Survey Report of the Prairie Village Water Trust. In response to the findings of that report, the PVWT is moving ahead with the following:
Bids for an engineering study of the water system are being requested. This will assess the entire water system and evaluate our current capacity and provide solutions to any deficiencies found by the study.
Seeking emergency backup power for well # 2. Currently, well #3 is the only well with emergency power. The PVWT, with the help of CTW has identified a lightly used generator that may fit our needs. CTW anticipates we could acquire this unit at a substantial discount as the current municipal owner no longer needs it.
Bids for leak detection across the system are being requested, as well as exploring if any neighboring utilities have detection equipment that they could provide to assist. Due to recent increased usage, there are likely additional leaks across the system that need to be identified and repaired.
